State Farm not going to be in any Superbowl commercials is very interesting to me. I'm a big football fan and watching the Superbowl is a must for me. Not only the game but also the commercials. The commercials are usually super funny, and it takes away from the fact that the seahawks aren't in it. It's sad to see state farm in the commercial game because they are usually my favorite one to watch.
In the article it states how State Farm is not going to be in any commercials after they cancelled 72 thousand peoples in the last year. And to avoid facing backlash for what has happened in California. State Farm released a statement saying that they full focus on helping people in California or not. State Farm not showing up in any commercial might let them slide through the radar and be able to build back up customer relationships and support.
State Farm value proposition is on how they are reliable, accessible, and how the personal insurance options. With them cancelling 72 thousand people insurance and leading to a lot families losing their house it really takes a shot at their values. Making state farm feel not reliable and much more.
With the Superbowl almost 3 weeks away a lot of companies are getting their ads ready for a million dollar thirty second ad. Except State Farm. After the fires they have made a business decision to sit out on the ads after they had their 2024 ad of Arnold Schwarzenegger as an “Agent State Farm” character. With all that is happening with insurance companies, sitting out could be the move to get them pass this. But with over 17 thousand people who will remember why they can't afford to rebuild their house it might be a problem for people to forget this disaster not just for the people involved but also the insurance companies like State Farm. What these insurance companies did could cost they millions and could make them lose current customers in the future.
What State Farm is doing is definitely the first time I have ever seen it. Not being in any Superbowl commercial as a company as big as State Farm is something I'll never forget. State Farm to seems to be hiding away and trying to get pass this which could cost them heavily like is said earlier.
What State Farm is doing in a marketing way has it good and bads but i would say it more on the bad side. Hiding away from a time like this is bad. Putting a 15 second Ad about apologizing or something along those lines could help mend the problems caused by what happened. Like lots of others have said "Any publish is good publish".
I would do the opposite of what State Farm did. I think putting a small little ad about saying how they messed up and maybe trying to fix it could help them recover and help them rebuild relationships with customers and help them prove their values again.
What I have learned is how some cheap companies can be when something bad happens. Instead of trying to mend what they have done they instead choice to hide away and keep quiet and let this pass.
